The Shangri-La brand encompasses extravagance. This year, while I was showing my mother around Hong Kong, we had the pleasure of visiting the Kowloon Shangri-La hotel. From the moment you step in the front door, you’ll immediately know what kind of property this is. Shangri-La’s are known for their very impressive lobbies. Without fail, lots of gold and many giant chandeliers are usually present. This was my mother’s first visit to such a hotel and she was very impressed!

We arrived quite early in the morning but the staff were kind enough to allow us access to the Horizon Club lounge to enjoy breakfast! I did not request this, they were just lovely enough to suggest this option. So thoughtful! The breakfast had both a buffet as well as an à la carte menu. I went with the minute steak and an egg.

The steak was absolutely mind blowing! Cooked to perfection, this could have been served at dinner, it was so tender and juicy. While we’re talking about the Horizon Club lounge, I’ll have to mention the gorgeous view. Being on the Kowloon side of Hong Kong, it’s nice to observe the grand skyline of the island. Better yet is enjoying the view with some great food and drinks at the lounge!

Shortly after breakfast, the room was ready, so it was time to go down one floor to check it out. The spacious room shared the same view as the Horizon Club lounge, a panorama of Hong Kong’s Victoria harbor. There was a lovely seating area next to a large window with treats waiting for me on the table. A warm welcome letter, fruit and hot tea served by the staff were a lovely way to be greeted. This room was a great place to spend time while in Hong Kong!

Also quite spacious, the bathroom had a large shower and bathtub. I’m a huge fan of the Shangri-La toiletries, all in the same colored boxes with great quality products.

Heading down to the lower levels, you will find the indoor pool, fitness center and changing areas. The pool is on the smaller side but still lovely and has a hot tub next to it. To offset the smaller pool, there is a very extensive gym. The gym was very sufficient and after my workout I headed into the locker room to clean myself up.

Inside the locker rooms you’ll find even more goodness. They have both a steam room and large sauna. My favorite was the very hot steam room. Another nice touch would be the clothes dryer. I was very happy that I could dry my workout clothes.

I enjoyed being on the Kowloon side of Hong Kong which was in a closer vicinity to many places of the city that I enjoy. I was sure to take my mom to the Nan Lian garden where we snapped some lovely photos and enjoyed the calmness. I must insist you visit as well!

After days of exploration it was nice to unwind back at the Horizon Club lounge. You can find a large selection of food and drinks in the evening.

The few days spent at this glorious property were a treat. All of the service staff treated me with respect and kindness. The Shangri-La product has been consistently high quality regardless of location. The Kowloon Shangri-La property exceeded my expectations and provided quality lifelong memories. My stay was flawless and therefore I can highly recommend you to stay at the Kowloon Shangri-La hotel in Hong Kong!
