If you’ve had a chance to read my article on the Sofitel in London then you will already know that I love the dining room at the Balcon! It’s a mix between old and new and to me it’s very visually appealing.
That being said I must say that the food also matches. To start I went with the scallop appetizer. It has been a very long time since I’ve had scallops cooked so perfectly. Like butter baby.
For the meal we went with a very simple Pinot Noir from Baron Philippe De Rothschild. This was the first time that I ever had a server recommend one bottle of wine for both red meat and seafood dishes. I’m not sure that I agree 100% with the decision but the meal was still good!
The second starter we chose was the panfried snails with chorizo. This was also a melt in your mouth type dish. I’m a huge fan of chorizo and the snails made a great pair!
For my main course I also went with more seafood! I chose the lobster and seafood bouillabaisse. Once again another amazing dish with tons of flavor. One good plate after the next! Keep them coming!
I realized that while in London there were many desserts that had rhubarb. At first I got excited because in other places I’ve been it wasn’t super common. In London practically every dessert menu has a rhubarb item so I’m gobbling them up while I can!
Overall, everything went over quite well. As you already know I love the dining room so that was a win. The service was perfect and I enjoyed most of the food! It’s too bad that I didn’t get to sample more of the menu but perhaps next time. I’m fairly confident that you will enjoy your time if you visit the Balcon restaurant at the Sofitel in London!
