Mexico is easy to access from the United States but I just didn’t take the time to explore Mexico City until this year. I was curious to find out more about this mega-city and all it had to offer. The first hotel I stayed at was the InterContinental Santa Fe Hotel. Santa Fe is the most modern district in Mexico City and offers lots of shopping, office buildings, hotels, and a plethora of amazing restaurants, including The Palm Steakhouse which you can read about in a separate article here. The property was stunning from the outside and I couldn’t wait to get in and check it out!

The InterContinental Santa Fe’s lobby is located on the 3rd floor. The lobby was modern and fairly spacious. After a smooth check in process with the friendly and accommodating staff, it was up to the 47th floor to see my new home!
When I opened the door, the first thing my eyes were drawn to was the impressive balcony. This offered quite a stunning view of Santa Fe and beyond. Inside the room there was a king-size bed, two massive lounge chairs, large working desk, capsule coffee machine, and a window into the bathroom. Pierre approved overall but would have appreciated more than one complimentary bottle of water. Pro tip: fill your bottle of water in the gym 😉
Just like the bedroom, the bathroom was also quite massive and included a dual sink vanity, large shower stall, and a large toilet stall. The shower stall could fit an entire group of people! All of the InterContinental toiletries were available that I’ve come to know and love! Overall, the bathroom felt strong in quality.
The InterContinental Santa Fe staff delivered multiple gifts including a cheese plate, chips and hot sauce, and meat plate with multiple bottles of wine! This was a truly warm welcome and I want to thank the whole team!
Each night there was a delightful turn-down service. The staff prepared the room for sleepy time and left chocolate on the bed. Tasty!
Just above the lobby level is where the fitness center is located. The gym has tons of cardio equipment, a decent selection of weight machines, and loads free weights. In the changing rooms of the gym there are dry saunas. Just next to the gym is an outdoor terrace that offers a very comfortable atmosphere to relax. It would be extra lovely to enjoy in the summer time!
The InterContinental Santa Fe Hotel has an incredible steakhouse known as The Palm. They have amazing cuts of meat from all around the world including authentic Wagyu from Kagoshima. During my meal I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to try it to confirm it was the real deal! This steak met and exceeded all of my expectations! They have a lot of other items on the menu besides only beef. I also went for an order of the king crab legs. Incredible! The experience was so good that I wrote a separate article on the restaurant here.
The following morning I had a chance to also enjoy a breakfast at The Palm. Everything was once again great and a different experience enjoying the spacious terrace.
During my stay, I got to enjoy executive club lounge access. The lounge is located on the lobby level, next to the concierge. Inside the executive club lounge is a comfortable dining room which offers a special breakfast and evening canopies and cocktail hours. The lounge is cozy and well staffed. I found the food to be amazing and appreciated the fact that they offered so much local Mexican cuisine as well as Western options! This wasn’t any ordinary lounge food, this was something special. The chefs truly have heart and soul and it was evident in everything I ate there. This was a true foodie paradise!
I must say that my Mexico City trip was off to a fantastic start and it was all thanks to the InterContinental Santa Fe. The hotel was very modern and offers everything a discerning traveler needs. Santa Fe is a little bit out of the city center but if you have a reason to be in the area, this is truly a great property! When it was all said and done, I can easily recommend a stay at the InterContinental Santa Fe Hotel in Mexico City, Mexico.
