I was happy to return to the Atlântico Bar & Restaurante three and a half years after my first visit in Estoril, Portugal. The restaurant is part of the InterContinental Cascais-Estoril which you can read about here. That first visit in 2016 was magical and I was curious if it would be as good as then with the updated menu!
The restaurant is actually incredibly gorgeous with an indoor and an area that the roof can be retracted. I’d love to sit outside in the summer time! To get the evening started we ordered Shrimp with Garlic, Chili and fresh Coriander which turned out to be popping with flavor! I would highly recommend this dish as it really left a strong impression on me. Pro tip dip bread in the sauce, it was magical.
Next up was the traditional Portuguese Special cured Codfish “à Brás” with organic Eggs as well as Sea Bass with Mussels, Leek and Champagne and Saffron cream. After such an exciting starter these were a bit more mild. Both decent but not nearly as good as the other dishes.
I spoke with Philip who suggested I instead should try Hake fillets with Stew Rice which absolutely knocked my socks off! This came with a very flavorful salad. Everything was perfectly balanced and booming with flavor, a complete success. I had reached food heaven!
To wrap things up for dessert I ordered the raspberry texture. This dessert was incredible and I especially liked the center of the dessert. All of the varieties in this single dessert kept my mouth guessing.
Throughout the evening my father and I witnessed an absolutely amazing level of service. When Philip recommended the perfect dish I was impressed by his intuitiveness. When it was all said and done, it was a good experience and meal at Miguel Laffan at Atlântico Bar & Restaurante in Estoril, Portugal.
