I’m not sure why, perhaps it’s because my ancestors were French-Canadian but for some reason every time I’m in Canada, I feel at home. On my most recent trip to Canada, I stayed at the Four Seasons Hotel in Toronto which you can read about here. During the stay we had the pleasure of dining at Café Boulud which exceeded all of my expectations.
My very first impression of Café Boulud was positive. The interior felt relaxed and welcoming but also very chic and stylish. I love the way they blended the old style with the new. Our server was a gracious host for the evening.
There were tons of items on the menu that caught my eye but after much deliberation, I put together a short-list to order. My favorites of the meal were the house made pork sausage, the beef tartare, rotisserie chicken, duck leg, kale salad and the amazing dessert! Out of everything, the item that left the best impression was the duck! It reminded me of crispy pork belly as it had a perfectly crispy outside and a soft and juicy inside. The meat was so succulent and juicy, but the skin was my favorite part!
The chicken was cooked in a very special rotisserie shipped in from France. As the meat cooks, the juices drip-down onto the vegetables below. I even got to take a look in the kitchen to see this impressive machine!
To finish off the evening I ordered the Grapefruit Givre which also knocked my socks off with so many flavors and textures combined into one lovely dessert. There was cotton candy on top, a crispy shell below and sorbet with jelly inside.
I had no idea what to expect when I entered Café Boulud inside of Four Seasons Toronto, but at the end, I was incredibly impressed! They didn’t miss a beat throughout the evening. Without a doubt I can highly recommend you to visit Café Boulud in Toronto. Try the duck leg!
