Who doesn’t love melted cheese?!?
Sadly it was my final day at the Phoenicia hotel in Beirut. However, there was a fantastic lunch in store for Pierre at their Italian restaurant called Caffe Mondo.
The Phoenicia hotel has so much to offer it’s insane. Luckily there was a chance to visit three of their restaurants. Statistically you would just assume that at least one of them wouldn’t be fantastic but it was quite the contrary. All of them were fabulous. You’ll be happy to know that I have written reviews for all of them along with the spa and the hotel stay.
Anyways, like I said it was my last day at the Phoenicia hotel so I was sad to leave. Going down to their Italian cafe was a way to boost my mood and help let go of the sadness of leaving.
The cafe overlooks the sea which is a gorgeous. Upon our arrival I was brought quite an assortment of snacks. A great start!
After ordering a Lebanese beer and having some mozzarella for an appetizer it was time to move on to the main course which was… drum roll. Lasagna! Now this is what I’m talking about when I think of decadent Italian food. I could feel the passion that went into this cheesy masterpiece! It made me feel warm and fuzzy inside and that is the type of food that I like. Melted cheese going straight to my hips.
Pro Tip: If you partake in professional eating like Pierre you better make sure you hit the gym afterwards. Otherwise I can guarantee you’ll blow up into a whale-sized human.
Even though I was super full I had to order a dessert. Pierre approved. The combination of the chocolate cake and ice cream is always a classic.
In conclusion, if you have a hankering for some great Italian food while you’re in Beirut you should definitely try Caffé Mondo! Make Pierre proud!
