As you very well know my first stop in Beirut was at the Phoenicia hotel. What an absolute treat the hotel is! You know what I’m going to say, if you haven’t checked out that review, you better. Quality in the hotel was top-notch so I had very high expectations for my massage in their Spa Phoenicia.
I had already been to the spa because I had used the gym and I must say that the whole area is quite beautiful in itself. All of the fitness equipment overlooks a large pool and lounge area. The spa treatments occur upstairs above an indoor pool.
Upon my arrival I was greeted super warmly by their wonderful staff and shown to the locker room to change. Throughout my entire time in the locker room there was a staff member there to assist me with anything I needed. At first I was a little thrown off but actually it made everything very comfortable. Once I was changed into my robe I headed outside to meet my masseuse.
When I first saw her I knew that she was from southeast Asia and because I’ve lived in Thailand and speak Thai I was hoping that she was Thai but turns out she was from Indonesia. Regardless, her personality was very warm and playful which was great. She wore a constant smile on her face 🙂
The treatment rooms were very clean and relaxing. Mine was fairly basic for the massage but they also have a variety of different styled rooms to get your relaxation on like the one above.
Pierre is very particular about his massages. He has tight shoulders so he doesn’t like it super rough. He’s delicate like a flower. When it comes down to it, the masseuse hit the spot. She had worked there for many years and clearly was a true professional. I was able to instruct her what I liked and what I didn’t like but there was very little of what I didn’t like because it was all so relaxing.
After my thorough rubdown it was sadly time to wrap up the massage. She brought me back down to the locker room area where I was able to order an espresso to jump me back to reality. Inside the locker room the attendant showed me to the steam room which is exactly what I like to enjoy after a nice massage.
What I have to say is that I enjoyed all parts of this experience! Having the attendant in the locker room makes you feel really special and this I truly appreciated. The treatment was great, the rooms were well-designed and the service was top-notch. The Phoenicia hotel is one of my favorite hotels that I’ve visited thus far. If you’re staying there or if you’re in Beirut you must check out their spa as soon as possible!
