I actually covered my first Dusit property earlier this year in Thailand, which you can read about here. Now I was in Manila for the second time, and had a chance to try out the Dusit Thani Manila Hotel. The property is located in the very famous Makati City of Manila. Dusit Thani Manila is very conveniently located, everything you may need right at your doorstep.

The Dusit Thani Manila is a bit of an older property, which gives it a lot of character. I went directly to my suite for an in-room check-in on the 16th floor, which is a club room floor. The suite felt a lot more timeless in its design. The suite had a lovely color scheme of mostly white and gray, accented with gold and other vibrant colors throughout. It all felt very comfortable and luxurious with its soft lighting and comfortable seating and bedding.
Thank you for the welcome gift of fruit, chocolate and the Luk Chup, which are a traditional Thai dessert made from mung beans and shaped like fruit. The room didn’t have a coffee machine, but it did have a kettle.
The bathroom was also quite beautiful with its design! I liked the Aromatherapy toiletries as well. During my stay the hot water was having problems, but the staff did their best to fix the issue. There was no bidet.
I’d like to thank the Dusit Thani Manila staff for the lovely bed decoration, chocolates, and the bubble bath!
One floor up from my floor, was the Dusit Thani Manila’s Dusit Club Lounge. In the Dusit Club, there is a modest breakfast, modest afternoon tea, and an evening cocktail and food period. In the evening is when the Dusit Club really shines.
My favorite breakfast was in the The Pantry Restaurant on the ground floor! On the ground floor guests will find a massive breakfast with a serious selection of international cuisines, all paired with great service. All types of food can be found so I’m sure all will find something that they can enjoy! The service at The Pantry really were on their toes, doing a great job to take care of all guests.
On the second floor of the property were the rooftop pool, fitness center, and spa. During my stay I got to have a spa treatment which was a Swedish Massage. The masseuse was a true professional and offered a great massage. The fitness center is a bit older but has all the equipment one would need for an optimum work. The pool has a nice atmosphere and has a lot of space for guests to relax.
On the ground floor is the the Benjarong Restaurant, Dusit Thani Manila’s Thai restaurant. The ambiance in the dining room was very comfortable and the service was great as well. For the evening, I was waited on by a very attentive waiter, who was also an accomplished bartender. Therefore I would definitely recommend trying some of their unique cocktails. I ordered several Thai staples to see how they compared to my 3+ years of living in Bangkok. My favorite item from the evening would be the tub tim krob, which is a fairly mild Thai dessert, at least compared to super sweet Filipino Halo Halo dessert and comprised of water chestnuts in a moderately sweet coconut milk. It was just perfect!
All in all, I enjoyed my meal at Benjarong. The dishes were quite tasty and had their own twist on the original Thai flavors. Don’t expect the exact flavors of Thailand. If you go in with an open-mind, knowing this fact, then I’m sure most will enjoy themselves!
I also had a chance to experience their UMU Japanese Restaurant. All in all, this was fantastic! Overall, UMU did a great job at offering lovely service, ambiance, and Japanese cuisine. Read more about this lovely restaurant, here.
Upon my departure, I utilized the Dusit Thani Manila’s airport car transfer service. It was incredibly smooth and allowed me to get to the airport promptly. The Dusit Thani Manila Hotel has a lot going for it, but there are some spaces for improvement. My favorite parts of the experience were the UMU Japanese Restaurant, the design of the rooms, and the spectacular location in Makati. The Dusit Thani Manila has a lot of potential and still is a solid contender for luxury hotels in Manila.
