The Intercontinental brand has become one of my favorite luxury hotel brands. I don’t want to jinx it, but I have yet to experience something less than perfect at one of their properties. I recently stayed at the Intercontinental in Bucharest.

The hotel is a landmark in the center of the city. It’s one of the tallest buildings in all of Bucharest. From the upper floors, you can see almost everything in the city. It’s a great place to watch the sunrise and sunset as well.
I checked-in in the middle of the afternoon and went up to my suite on the 17th floor. It was very large and had a very classic and elegant style. This type of hotel room styling is timeless. There were two bathrooms, one with a full bath tub and one with a standalone shower. It’s great to have options folks. The styling is also timeless in the bathrooms, gold and nice countertops throughout.
Another feature I really appreciated about the room was the fact that they offer both and espresso machine and a tea kettle. Sometimes you get only one or the other but when they have both it’s an extra plus in Pierre’s book.
For some reason, the bedding at this particular location was extra comfortable. I slept like an angel for my four nights at the hotel!
A huge plus for this room, is the large balcony. I know I’ve mentioned the view already, but seriously, look!
Of course such a nice suite will give you access to their beautiful lounge on the 21st floor. The lounge is where I spent most of my time. If I wasn’t working in my room, you could count on Pierre to be in the lounge. I’m sure everyone will be thrilled as I was to know that their happy hour last for four hours! Not one, not two, not three but four full hours of a copious amount of food and alcoholic beverages! This is what dreams are made of! Not only was the lounge offering great food and drink but the service was some of the best that I’ve ever witnessed in a lounge. There’s a gentleman that works there in the evenings named Alex and he was on his A-game. Great service!
Not only do you get to enjoy an unlimited quantity of whatever your heart desires, but you get to enjoy such a beautiful view. Life is good.
From all that eating and drinking, you’re going to need some balance. After one of my large meals at the hotel, I went up to the gym and spa area on the 22nd floor and did a 10 km run. The facilities in the spa and gym are fantastic. They have a full steam room and sauna and a really large amount of exercise equipment. Also, a beautiful indoor swimming pool and hot tub. Between the spa, the gym and the lounge, Pierre was in absolute bliss.
I’m sure you could’ve guessed that they offer breakfast in both the hotel restaurant on the ground floor and the lounge on the 21st. I prefer a quiet and private setting so I spent my time in the lounge. The food was fantastic in both locations. I also had a chance to experience their Sunday brunch and you can read about that in a separate article. Coming soon!
After my stay at the hotel, it was off to the airport to catch my flight to Serbia. Luckily I was able to get an airport transfer from the Intercontinental. They picked me up in luxury and took me to the airport to catch my flight. What a perfect way to end my stay! I would highly recommend you take their airport transfer service.
I said it before and I’ll say it again, I love the Intercontinental brand. They never disappoint me and it was no different in Bucharest, Romania. They truly have so much to offer whether it’s the food, the service, the lounge, the gym, the pool, the view it’s all really quite amazing. The whole stay was flawless and if I’m ever back, I will definitely stay at the Intercontinental Bucharest hotel again!
