After our time in Sofia, Bulgaria it was onto Bucharest, Romania! When I look at the map it didn’t look like a very far journey so I didn’t bother to book a flight. However, when push came to shove, it ended up taking about six hours with a combination bus and a taxi. It sounds a little extreme but surprisingly it was fairly smooth and straightforward.

We arrived at the JW Marriott Bucharest around 5:30pm. We had a dinner the same evening at the JW Steakhouse which you will be able to read in a separate article. The hotel is right in the city center and near some very popular buildings for tourists.
The lobby of the hotel is quite glamorous. This hotel is an iconic hotel in Bucharest and has many things going on inside. There are many shops, including many luxury brands for all you big spenders.
I was just recently in the Grosvenor House JW Marriott in London. You definitely must read about that experience here. The styling in Bucharest was clearly recently updated much like London. I like that JW Marriott has high standards for the styling of its properties. It’s very elegant and also has a very clean look. In the bathroom, it is also very nice and they use Bvlgari products.
Of course, I received upgraded executive lounge access. Boss life. The lounge is absolutely stunning! They have some fantastic snacks offered throughout the day, along with the typical coffee and other soft drinks. In the evening they have happy hour which is heaven. The food in the lounge is definitely quite an extensive offering.
We had breakfast in the lounge the next day which was perfect. I was able to get some beautiful photos because the food looked so good! It also tasted great! I had many different teas to choose from and lots of food options as well. Heaven.
Looking through their website, I was very excited to check out their gym and pool area. It turns out that the gym is actually a public gym. This means that both the gym and pool area were absolutely full of people. Public gyms tend to be a bit busy and hotel gyms are usually nice and relaxed. I prefer the latter.
The hotel is huge. There are many different facets of the property I feel like I’ve gotten a good feel for the hotel. It’s all very fresh and feels very new. The rooms are updated and clean. The food was great in the lounge and at breakfast. Not my favorite gym scenario but it gets the job done. At the end of the day, my time at the JW Marriott Bucharest was a great experience!
