Before coming to Bucharest, Pierre did some research to find some great restaurants to try. Bistro Guxt kept coming up in the top rankings during my research, so I decided to arrange a dinner there.
This is my first time to Romania and I was really curious about the cuisine. Bistro Guxt is an establishment that focuses mostly on the food paired with beer or wine. For example, each item on the menu has recommendations for beer and wine to pair. The matches were great!
To start, we went with an octopus salad, a caramelized onion and cheese tart and a chicken and duck liver mousse with truffle. All were quite great! One item was actually quite a surprise for me. Normally, I’m not the biggest fan of liver but for some reason I absolutely loved this!
I almost forgot that to start I ordered a Ground Zero “Imperial Fuck” beer. It was amazing! It’s full of flavor. All of the beers that I had that evening were quite fantastic and honestly made me feel like I was back in America, where we have so many craft breweries. For the entrée, we went with a beautiful steak accompanied with grilled vegetables. Make sure you specify how you would like your meat cooked when ordering, just to make sure you get it how you love it. The seasoned butter was amazing!
During our meal, we were actually waited on by the owner of the restaurant. Radu is the man and you can tell he really loves what he’s doing!
Not long after, it was time to wind down and have dessert. For this, we went with a Tarta Tatin and a chocolate and amaretti di saronno cake. I must say that the chocolate cake takes the cake so to speak. Wink. All in all if you want some good quality food Bistro Guxt is definitely worth checking out while in Bucharest, Romania. The service was fantastic and the food was very tasty!
