After spending a short time in Bucharest, Romania, I realized that there are many different areas which offer a variety of different atmospheres. One of the days during my Bucharest exploration, I decided to visit the Joseph restaurant. The restaurant is located on the north end of the city which is the more luxurious area of Bucharest!
It was a beautiful summer day with great weather, so we sat outside. Outdoor seating on the patio is quite magical, really. It was the weekend so there were many people there. I really couldn’t have asked for a better atmosphere than the quaint patio!
To start, I went with a caipirinha which is a cocktail originating in Brazil. I thought it would be nice to have a refreshing drink on a beautiful summer day. Shortly after the welcome drink, we ordered our appetizers. We went with the tuna tartare with avocado and a spinach ravioli with duck prosciutto. Let’s stop for a moment and take a look at how beautiful the presentation is. They clearly look like works of art and the taste was phenomenal. The ravioli melted in my mouth and the prosciutto help give it this amazing richness.
They set the bar quite high with the appetizers and drinks. To keep the ball rolling, I ordered a mojito which was very tasty and then put in the order for the entrees. For the these we went with a lobster risotto as well as a rack of lamb. Recently in Bulgaria, I had the best lamb of my life so my bar was also set quite high. The lobster risotto ended up being one of the best I’ve had. There is nothing better than getting a perfectly creamy risotto. The lobster was a little overcooked but still tasty nevertheless.
For dessert we got a little wild. There was a chocolate forest on the menu which was very intriguing and I had to order it. There was also a chocolate mint ball dessert that I was curious about. First and foremost, the presentation was perfect. Both were little masterpieces. This was a situation though where they tasted good but not out of this world. I still can’t get over how pretty they were though.
At the end of the day, the meal at Joseph Restaurant was great. Throughout the meal we had very friendly service. I seriously commend the kitchen for producing such beautiful dishes. Honestly, it’s worth a visit just to enjoy eating pieces of art. On a majority of the dishes the taste was very good as well. I would highly recommend you to visit Joseph Restaurant in Bucharest, Romania the next time you have a chance!
