On my most recent trip to Toronto I hunted for a high-end Japanese restaurant to try. After much deliberation, I decided on Miku, located right in the heart downtown Toronto. Miku Toronto recently celebrated its 3 year anniversary with a special Anniversary Kaiseki Tasting Menu along with the option of sake pairing. The menu is made up of 6 courses, including dessert, showing off the restaurant’s best items.
From the moment we walked in, it was clear it was a very popular restaurant because it was completely full. The dining room is massive and to fill the entire space on a Monday at 6pm was impressive.
If I had to choose my favorite dishes of the evening, I would have to pick the beef carpaccio, foie gras, sashimi (specifically the tuna) and of course, the anniversary sushi selection. Out of the entire menu, the beef carpaccio took the crown.
We of course had to go for the sake pairing with each course. A majority of the sake was fairly smooth and fit well with the food. Along with the food and drink, we had a lovely team taking care of us, clearly showing that Miku offers excellent service.
All in all the evening at Miku was enjoyable. I appreciated the majority of the food, although there were areas to improve upon when it came to a few of the dishes. At the end of the day, the service, food, drink and atmosphere made for a lovely evening!
