My first NH Collection Hotel was in Porto, Portugal at their Batalha property. Actually, it was my first time to visit this absolutely beautiful city as well! NH Collection Porto Batalha is located in the center of the city surrounded by loads of restaurants, sights, shops, and bars. Everything, all in one place! From here it’s possible to easily explore the city by foot as we did many times. Arriving at the hotel by car was a bit difficult as the hotel itself doesn’t have parking. However, NH Porto Jarmi Hotel does, which is just a few hundred meters away.

After parking was finished, all was well and we experienced a smooth check in process and offered a glass of port wine. I liked the little extras in the lobby which included some flavored water and sweets. The hotel was set in a 300 year old palace and the interior was brand-new.
My first floor room was incredibly modern and featured a large balcony looking out over Batalha Square. I liked that there was lots of natural light paired with a bright room design to give the room a light and calm feeling. It felt great!
The room featured a working desk, office chair, daybed, king-size bed, capsule coffee machine, teakettle, minibar, and a decent size closet.
Upon arrival, I was gifted some chocolate, cookies, a traditional Portuguese pastry, and a small bottle of Port wine. Thank you so much NH Collection for such a delightful welcome! The dessert was just perfect! With the wine, it was a match made in heaven.
The bathroom was also fairly bright and had a double sink vanity, bathtub with shower, toilet, Black Mamba hair dryer, and separate bidet. The toiletries were also quite nice and included some extras including hand cream and a hair mask product. I like it when hotels go above and beyond the rest!
On the lobby level of NH Collection Porto Batalha are the Tabu Restaurant and Bar. Both are gorgeous in their modern designs.
For breakfast there was a delightful buffet with lots of options and enough staff to adequately take care of the room. I enjoyed breakfast and the ability to try several local items that I was not too familiar with, including jelly that was made from quince which are apparently similar to pears. It was great to have the friendly staff explain and translate this for me! Overall, I definitely enjoyed the breakfast options, atmosphere, and service. Great job NH Collection!
During my stay, I also had a chance to try the Tabu Restaurant for dinner, twice. Although the feeling was fairly casual, the Tabu Restaurant offered some incredible dishes that were better than a few fine dining meals I had recently experienced (I won’t be naming them!) On the first night, I tried the Caesar salad, seafood risotto, steak, Portuguese pudding dessert, as well as some more Port wine. On the second night, I tried the famous Portuguese Francesinha and panna cotta. If you’re not familiar the Francesinha is the Portuguese version of the Croque-Monsieur with a lot of meat and melted cheese! Everything turned out to be very good! Not only good, but extremely delicious. Tabu has a really good sense for balancing flavors and I can easily recommend a meal here, you won’t be disappointed. I need to also mention that the service was incredible. Seriously good job!
As mentioned the property was perfect for exploring the city by foot, and my father and I definitely took advantage of that! It doesn’t get much better than this.
Overall, NH Collection Porto Batalha was absolutely lovely! Unfortunately, during my stay the spa and fitness center were under construction. Regardless, it doesn’t get more convenient than NH Collection Porto Batalha Hotel, and along with the great location the hotel has a seriously high-quality offering. Without a doubt I can recommend the NH Collection Porto Batalha Hotel!
