My first visit to the Shangri-La Hotel in Tokyo was truly a flawless experience! It was nothing but magic from start to finish. Luckily, about 2.5 years later, I had a chance to return to experience this elegant property again. Shangri-La is a brand that I know to be very consistent with their offering, and this was proven with my second visit.

It started with a short walk from a nearby Tokyo Metro Station. Shangri-La Tokyo is conveniently located just next to the Tokyo Station, which is one of the most convenient places to begin travel from, whether you’re going around the country or the city.
I checked in at the Horizon Club Lounge on the top floor of the hotel. The lounge was just as magnificent as I remember it. There were three substantial food and beverage offerings throughout the day including breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails with hors d’oeuvres. Just like last time the food, drinks, view and service were all phenomenal at the Horizon Club Lounge! For breakfast, I highly recommend you to order the Eggs Benedict with lobster and the Chestnut Pudding, they were both truly exceptional!
Actually, for this stay, I secured the same room type as I did for the first stay, which was a Horizon Club Deluxe King Room. My room was spacious and luxurious in all regards. When I first entered, I immediately noticed the welcome gift spread! The team at Shangri-La Tokyo were kind enough to offer lots of tasty snacks to welcome me back. My first white strawberry and dekopon, which is a large seedless mandarin! My favorite features of the room were its comfortable bed, desk and coffee machine. I was very happy to call Shangri-La Tokyo home for a couple days! Just as lovely as I remember it.
The bathroom was spacious and separated from the living area by glass, a timeless design. This time around I noticed there was an addition in the bathroom, a set of women’s care products. I may have taken the chapstick! They also of course offer high-end Bvlgari products.
On the lobby level, you’ll find the hotel’s beautiful Chi Spa, fitness center, and pool. The gym packs a lot into a small space with its high-quality equipment. Enjoy your workout with a gorgeous view of the pool and city.
After such a magical experience at their Chi Spa last time, I was eager to visit again. I went for another Chi Balance massage! You can read more about the Chi Spa here.
One day I enjoyed breakfast in the Horizon Club Lounge, and the other I enjoyed it at their Piacere Restaurant, where the hotel’s main breakfast takes place. Both were great! The menu at Pieacere was quite extensive and accompanied with an additional buffet. If you eat at Piacere, I’d highly recommend the Nasu Agebitashi Benedict with White Miso Hollandaise, Tuna Flakes, Ginger and Japanese Spring Onions. Oishi!
Also, I was able to revisit the Nadaman Restaurant and had an improved experience from the first time around! Read about my latest amazing night at Nadaman here.
During my visit I took a tour of some of the very expansive suites! Maybe next time I’ll stay in one. Wink.
Being able to visit a property twice, years apart, both times having it be a flawless, really illustrates the incredible consistency of the Shangri-La brand. I’d like to commend the Shangri-La Tokyo team for doing such a fantastic job in all departments. After visiting over 215 luxury hotels, I can easily say Shangri-La Tokyo is one of my favorite properties ever! A must visit indeed.
