Spending Fall At Home? Explore These Innovative Ideas To Make The Most Of The Autumnal Season

29 Nov 2019

Spending fall at home rather than jetting off to a sun-kissed location abroad might not have been on your agenda, but with more pandemic related restrictions falling into place it’s seeming more difficult to leave the country. Don’t fret, as you can still enjoy the autumnal season from the comfort of your living room! There are many brilliant ideas that you can make the most of to enjoy fall for all it has to offer, so what are you waiting for? Now’s the time to start planning the perfect fall season.

Switch Up Your Decor

One of the first steps that you can take to really get into the mood for the fall season at home is to switch up your decor. Start by swapping out any summer items you may have been previously using, such as changing low tog duvets for ultra thick winter-friendly options. Next, think aesthetically – if your home still boasts the cold bright white features that are so valuable in the hot summer months, then you need to make a few adjustments to better suit the new climate. Opting for warmer, darker decor in the form of browns, oranges, reds and other similar tones will help your home to feel as comfortable as ever, as there will be a much greater sense of warmth and heat rather than full on coolness. Try to embody the colors of the leaves that fall outside and crunch under foot, as that’s what fall is all about! Adding a few features such as blankets and throws, rugs, faux fur pillows and other warming pieces can also be of benefit, as you’ll find it far easier to unwind if you don’t feel cold.

Get Baking & Explore Fall Cuisine

If you’re the kind of person that eats seasonal food, then you’ll already know just how much things can change when fall makes an appearance. The kind of seasonal food that’s available is totally different to that which you can find in the summer, so you need to make the most of the autumnal offerings while they’re at their best! Produce like apples, pumpkins and squash are in their prime during fall, so you can whip up a batch of homemade mulled cider to pair with a slice of pumpkin dump cake for the perfect autumnal feast! The smells that will fill your home when you bake or prepare fall food will no doubt be absolutely divine, as spices like cinnamon and clove are used heavily in autumnal recipes. it’s also a good idea to make a few one-pot recipes that are rich in root vegetables, as this is a brilliant way to get a boost of vitamins and minerals that your immune system craves when fall starts to set in. Don’t be afraid to explore your kitchen this fall, as the cold dark evenings are the ideal time to pick up a new hobby and start preparing hearty, warming meals, drinks and snacks.

Plan Cosy Nights In

When the cold night starts to set in, heading out to drink at bars and party til dawn is going to be the last thing on your mind. Not only is it a little too much hassle to drag a winter coat to the club, it’s also a super quiet season during which time most people are saving their spending money for the festivities of Christmas. So, rather than painting the town red, it’s much more enjoyable to plan a cosy night at home in front of the fire. Planning the perfect night in needn’t be difficult, as all you need is an evening activity and a tasty meal to have a relaxing break. You can choose to watch a fall film, have a cinnamon scented bath bomb, or even sit down with a good book to read the night away. There are so many different options that you can explore to enjoy yourself at home during the long fall evenings, so now’s the time to come up with a few different ideas that you can choose between to keep yourself occupied until Christmas rolls around.

Spending fall at home needn’t be a stressful endeavour when you can take the time to make the most of some of the brilliant tips and ideas described above. Feeling the crunch of the fallen leaves underfoot, smelling the sweet and spicy scent of cinnamon and clove, and wrapping up warm in a fluffy blanket to watch your favorite show or film is what autumn is all about!

A Flawless Stay in Berlin: Grand Hyatt Hotel Review

28 Nov 2019

Prior to this trip I had only been to Germany once so I was very excited to finally visit Berlin for the first time! Berlin has a lot of interesting history but also nowadays is very is developing very rapidly. My first hotel stay in the city center was the Grand Hyatt Berlin, just near Potsdamer Platz. I took a train in from Poland and walked to the hotel which was about 25 minutes from the Berlin Hauptbahnhof (Berlin’s main train station.) The Grand Hyatt Berlin is located in Mitte, Berlin’s central borough, home of the Brandenburg Gate. From the hotel, everything was easy to visit!

I arrived in the mid-afternoon and met the friendly reception staff to easily check in. I secured a 1 King Bed with Club Access room which was located on the 7th floor. I couldn’t wait to check it out! It’d been a month or so since my last Hyatt property (which was the Park Hyatt in Dubai) but as soon as I entered, I was quickly enveloped with their styling that felt so familiar. Hyatt keeps their interior design modern, artistic, and luxurious. I love the way this 38 square meter room fit together.

The bedding was very comfortable and next to it were lighting controls to set the mood. The room also had a large table that doubled as a working desk, a lounge chair with ottoman, teakettle, and city view.

Up one floor from mine was the Olympus Club on the eighth floor of the Grand Hyatt Berlin. In the Olympus Club is a steam room, dry sauna, pool, and fitness center. The steam room, sauna, and showers are all shared by both genders. Everything was gorgeous and of the highest quality. A great facility indeed with friendly staff!

The Hyatt Club Lounge was on the same floor as my room and featured a continental breakfast, afternoon tea time, and evening cocktail and dinner period. The selection of items during each period was decent, not overwhelming or modest, a happy medium. Everything did taste great and the service was fairly good. That being said, as the lounge offers only a continental breakfast I would recommend going down to the Vox Restaurant on the ground floor for a more extensive breakfast.

At the main breakfast at the Vox Restaurant there was a huge selection on the buffet as well as the ability to order eggs any way you’d like. The staff were truly great and very friendly. It felt very familiar to cheerful American hospitality. The Eggs Benedict I had was just perfect! Well job Grand Hyatt Berlin!

After walking to the hotel and experiencing a friendly check in process I headed up to the eighth floor to see my suite. On the way there, I enjoyed the design of the public areas, including the hallways. Luxurious! The suite opened up into the living room which was very spacious with an elegant design. There was a dining table that doubles as a working desk, a large sofa, multiple lounge chairs, capsule coffee machine, and teakettle with hot chocolate! There was even a half bathroom next to the front door.

Overall, I could feel that this property had a bit of an upgraded experience than some of the Radisson Blu experiences I’ve had in the past. Other than that, I definitely enjoyed my stay at the Radisson Collection Hotel in Warsaw, Poland.

How to Plan the Perfect New Year’s Day

25 Nov 2019

The new year is a time to make resolutions and plan for the year ahead. But, whether you are writing resolutions, goals, or plans for the New Year, it can be hard to know where to start or how to get everything done in time.

Planning the perfect New Year’s Day is easy if you think ahead of time. This guide will offer some strategies to consider when making your plan for this upcoming holiday season.

First things first: decide on your goal for this day! Is it getting in shape? Spending more time with friends and family? Working on projects you have been neglecting?

Good. Now that you know your goal, here are some tips that will help you plan the perfect day.

What are your goals for the new year?

While last year New Year’s resolutions can feel like a distant memory, this is the time for you to make some new goals again. Sometimes, when we don’t think about it, we let the days go by that are supposed to be for reflection. Plan some time into the day for setting goals and thinking about your hopes and dreams for the year ahead.

What should you eat on New Year’s Day?

We all have a pretty good idea of what constitutes a New Year’s Day feast: a hearty breakfast, followed by the traditional roast with crispy crackling and all the trimmings, followed by a selection of desserts.

To celebrate the new year, many people will have a special meal just before midnight. It is said that what you eat on New Year’s Day will determine what your fortune will be in the upcoming year.

Some examples of food for a traditional New Year’s Day meal are:

– Apples for longevity and health

– Dried fruit for a healthy and prosperous future

– Fish for wealth and fertility

Some people in the South of the US like to follow a black eyed peas recipe to bring good luck in the new year.

It takes a lot of work to prepare the perfect holiday feast before the big day arrives. For many people, it feels like a chore rather than a joyous experience. So it’s no wonder that many people choose to skip the cooking altogether on New Year’s Day and spend their time with friends instead. If this sounds more like you, find something easy to prepare or do in advance so you can enjoy the first day of a brand new year.

What should you wear on New Year’s Day?

New Year’s Day is a time for celebration and fun, but it can also be a time for reflection. We often take the day to recall the past year and decide what we want from the next one. So what better way to start that process than by dressing in a way that reflects your desires?

Do you want to resolve to be more relaxed in life? Wear something comfortable! Are you tired of being in debt? Choose an outfit made from sustainable or recycled materials! Making these choices on New Year’s Day could mean the difference between sticking to your resolutions and letting them fall by the wayside.

New Year’s Day can be as relaxed and laid back or as formal and organized as you want it to be. Planning will ensure that whatever you decide to do will be perfect for you and your family.

Classic Luxury in Warsaw: Sofitel Victoria Hotel Review

25 Nov 2019

It’s been great to be back in Warsaw, Poland! During this visit, which was my second to the city, I had the chance to stay at the famous Sofitel Warsaw Victoria Hotel, an iconic property. Originally it opened in 1976, it was one of Warsaw’s first luxury hotels. Recently, the property has undergone a massive renovation which has made it incredibly modern and beautiful. Even with all of its modern comforts, it still keeps its original character.

For my stay at the Sofitel Warsaw Victoria Hotel, I had the pleasure of enjoying a freshly renovated Opera Suite, on the sixth floor. When I opened the door, my jaw hit the floor because of this suite’s beauty. This massive suite had everything I could possibly want, and more. There was lots of space to move around in and comfortable seating options everywhere I turned. The marble dining room table in the living room was a lovely touch as well. I want to thank the Sofitel Warsaw Victoria Hotel for the lovely welcome gift!

Road Tripping In The United States: Tips, Tricks, & Sights To See

24 Nov 2019

Road trips breed insight and perspective. When you’re out on the open road, it allows your mind to wander, helping you recognize and address deeply ingrained thoughts, memories and emotions. Plus, your experience is enhanced when traveling with your best buddies!

America is a very road-trip-friendly country and has grown in popularity in recent years. It has well-maintained roads, scenic byways and highways, cheap gas, and many places you can stop at.

Here are some tips, tricks, and sights to see when road tripping in The United States.

Where To Sleep

Accommodations are the first thing you need to consider when prioritizing your budget. The first thing you must ask yourself is, what’s most important to you in your accommodations? There are six options when it comes to considering where to sleep: couch surfing, car camping, camping, hostels, Airbnb, and hotels.

Assuming you are not staying in a hotel or looking for a place to pitch a tent, rest stops are a great place to spend overnight sleeping in your car if you are still on the way to your destination. You will encounter countless rest stops driving on highways and interstate roads in the USA. Once you arrive at your destination and are looking for somewhere safe to store your things, you should look into staying at a hotel, motel, or Airbnb.

Map Out Your Trip

Planning your trip on a physical map can offer insights about alternate routes, rest stops, and distances driven.

The goal is to break up your car trip into time chunks that are manageable and practical. The next step is to trace your route, marking stops every 100 to 150 miles. Between each stop, be sure to look for interesting attractions that will compliment your stops. It is very important for your entire chosen route to include interesting attractions that can serve to break up the day of driving. Lastly, be sure to have an alternate route already planned, which can save stress and time when you are in an unfamiliar location.

Sights To See

There are dozens of routes that you can take to experience a classic American road trip. Below are two trips to consider:

  • Overseas Highway: Miami to Key West

This road over the ocean crosses 42 bridges in its journey from Miami to Key West, Florida, the final link in the chain of the Florida Keys. With stunning views and stunning beaches between stops, this trip offers a unique experience that is unrivaled by other road trip routes. As you go from island to island, there are a plethora of things to do, such as feeding tarpons at Robbie’s Marina of Islamorada, getting some key lime pies, and hanging out at Bahia Honda State Park.

The best part of this trip has got to be the spectacular drive. Roll your windows down, put your sunglasses on, and explore sunny Florida and the Keys!

This is a great drive all year round – although it is worth noting that roads can be particularly crowded and backed up during summer months, particularly due to trucking accidents. In the unfortunate case that you find yourself in a trucking accident, be sure to reach out to some truck accident lawyers you can trust

  • Pacific Coast Highway: San Francisco to Los Angeles

This trip is loaded with stellar sights. The drive from San Fran to LA down Highway 1 is a spiritual experience that is considered iconic amongst avid road trippers. If you decide to embark on this ultimate 383-mile journey, make sure to stop in Half Moon Bay, Santa Cruz, and Monterey – and that’s just naming a few places!

There is plenty to do in the bay before cruising into Los Angeles to relax by the Santa Monica Pier. This drive takes in some remote areas of the California coast that you’d never be able to reach by public transport and the ability to pull over and stay longer along the way gives you such a sense of freedom that you’d otherwise be missing out on.

Did I Miss Anything?

From tasty road trip snacks to fun road trip games, road trips over a unique experience that you wouldn’t be able to encounter if you flew.

Do you have any experience road tripping? Feel free to share your story in the comments below!

How To Be the Best Entrepreneur

23 Nov 2019

The world is full of average, so-so entrepreneurs. Don’t be like them – be the best. It is important to stand out. Following the tips below can help you to become a confident, driven entrepreneur that is always one step ahead of the rest. Here are some tips on how to be the best entrepreneur.

Be Confident

The biggest element to your own success is your confidence. Creating yourself to be someone people can trust and want to be around is key. It all starts with confidence. Depending on where you start on the confidence scale you have a lot of options moving forward. One thing to make clear – make sure your confidence never turns into conceit, this can be detrimental to your brand and your overall personality. Growing confidence takes practice, but it is definitely worth it. Try to go out of your way to talk to people during your daily routine. Having more social interactions and conversations can help you to naturally become more comfortable speaking and help you to gain confidence. Also, dress like you mean business. Wear your best, most professional looks whether you’re at the office, working from home, or running errands. Clothing helps you to express yourself, and wearing a nice suit can help you to feel professional and confident. Confidence does all start from within, so set aside some time to meditate on some positive self-talk mantras.

Be Prepared

Being an entrepreneur comes with a fast-paced, overwhelming lifestyle. The best way to handle that is to prepare yourself every chance you get. Stay up late if you need to finish that project, or get up early to practice your next big pitch. Preparedness is one of the biggest things investors look for. Put in the work if you want to reap the reward! This can mean learning about all the odds and ends of a new product, asking yourself hard questions so you can have the answers when someone else asks, or even something as simple as setting your clothes out the night before so you are ready to go in the morning. Preparing yourself for any next step in your career means putting your best foot forward – and sometimes that is all you can do.

Protect Yourself

The business world can be quite brutal and intense. It is important to protect yourself from any dangerous situation, person, or idea. Insurance is a pivotal step in your safety, as having it shows that you are ready for anything and it will help you if anything arises. Another smart concept to invest in is a personal injury attorney. Protection in this sense is extremely necessary in order to keep you and your finances safe. Another area of protection that is beneficial to look into are trademarks or patents. Coming up with a fantastic idea only for it to be stolen out from under you can be devastating. Avoid that mess by protecting your ideas and products with patents. This will protect your creativity and allow you to have peace of mind going forward, which will in turn welcome more ideas!

Enjoy Your Time

One area of entrepreneurship that gets overlooked is enjoyment. Usually, entrepreneurs are known for being on the go nonstop and never getting to rest. If you time you schedule out, this doesn’t have to be your fate. Take some time to really appreciate your accomplishments and focus on the achievements you’ve made. The concern is that rushing is ruining your quality of life – so relax! Be sure to schedule off days for yourself. Use this time to hang out with your family, friends, or even just yourself! Time to think and process all that’s going on in your life is severely underrated. Practice gratitude and be thankful for your opportunities – this positive outlook will welcome more good things into your life.

Stay Motivated

Motivation is key to finding the next big thing time and time again. Loving what you do will help to give you a natural passion for thinking about new brilliant ideas. Get involved with other entrepreneurs and collaborate on ideas to keep your inspiration and motivation high. Caring about what you do for a living is so important because it gives you the passion to stay motivated. That motivation will help you to stay one step ahead of your competitors every day. Use this concept to do what you love and always come out on top! Incorporate these tips into your work schedule and see how quickly your business grows.

Have it All in Warsaw: The Westin Warsaw Hotel Review

21 Nov 2019

It’s been years since my first trip to Warsaw, Poland and I was happy to finally return! My first hotel stay of this trip was at The Westin Warsaw. The Westin Warsaw is located in Mirow which is a bustling business district full of skyscrapers. Actually, the first time I visited Warsaw I stayed in the Old Town at Hotel Bristol, a Luxury Collection Hotel which felt like a completely different city! With this modern infrastructure comes a ton of convenience and I was excited to explore.

The lobby of The Westin Warsaw has very high ceilings and lots of light. I checked into The Westin Warsaw very early in the morning after an overnight bus from Vilnius, Lithuania. Luckily, my room was ready as they were expecting me, so I headed up to the 16th floor to check it out! The room was in a contemporary business style and very comfortable. As it was on such a high floor, there were lovely views of the city. Along with a very comfortable king-size bed, there were two lounge chairs, a working desk, teakettle with tea and instant coffee, and enough space to stretch out. I had lounge access so no real need for a coffee machine in the room. Overall, the room was definitely to my liking!

In the bathroom I was delighted to see a modern bathtub, separated shower stall, and single sink vanity. Everything worked well.

During my stay at The Westin Warsaw I had Executive Lounge access. The Westin Club Lounge is located on the 19th floor of the property. The Westin’s Executive Lounge was very impressive as it has a very extended offering of food and drink throughout the day. It felt more like an all-inclusive resort than a normal hotel lounge. Splendid! This was mostly due to the fact that instead of having afternoon tea they provide a full lunch offering available throughout the afternoon. It’s possible to basically eat all day long!

On the third floor of The Westin Warsaw were the spa and fitness facilities. The gym had multiple rooms with lots of high quality Technogym equipment that was all very modern. The male and female changing rooms share a single dry sauna which was nice and hot. All the facilities were just lovely and well looked after.

During my stay I had a dinner at JP’s Cafe and Bar located on the ground level. I heard they had recently revamped their menu so I had a lot to explore. The first feature of JP’s that I noticed was the extremely chic design. It was a gorgeous space and very comfortable area to spend time. The two staff members that took care of me were very friendly and attentive to my needs. I was very happy to find a wide variety of cuisines to choose from, including several Asian items. To be honest, everything I ordered I was quite happy with! Don’t hesitate to try a meal at JP’s in Warsaw.

In the end, my extended stay at The Westin Warsaw was so incredibly smooth and lovely, I just couldn’t get enough! Perhaps I will move here, wink. Having such a fulfilling Executive Lounge experience really added a lot to my time at the hotel. The Westin Warsaw really didn’t miss a beat in any department which made my stay very satisfying. In conclusion, The Westin Warsaw offers a very complete and high-quality offering, and I can easily recommend it to all!

Review: Grand Hotel Kempinski in Vilnius’s Old Town

19 Nov 2019

I’m happy to say that I’ve finally made it to Lithuania, which is my 50th country! For my accommodation in Lithuania I stayed at the Grand Hotel Kempinski Vilnius. Vilnius is an easily walk-able city and the Grand Hotel Kempinski Vilnius is located right in the thick of the city’s Old Town. From the property’s front door, it was incredibly easy to walk and explore the entire city. Feel free to read about a very special tour I took in a separate article here.

The Grand Hotel Kempinski Vilnius’s lobby is luxurious and spacious. Everywhere I turned I saw chandeliers and comfortable seating areas. Check in was easy and I was even offered a glass of champagne for a truly warm welcome! After, it was up to the third floor to see the Deluxe Room with Balcony.

The Deluxe Rooms are between 31 and 45 square meters and the balcony really captured my attention which offer a lovely Old Town view. In the room there was a large king-size bed, lounge chair, working desk, capsule coffee machine, tea kettle, and more. The bedding was extra soft! I absolutely loved sleeping in this bed.

On the -1 floor are the spa and fitness areas. Grand Hotel Kempinski Vilnius has a pool, dry sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, and small fitness center. This area had a beautiful design and offered a great way to relax. Most of the time the area was well-kept but there was one occasion during the stay where some more attention would have been great. All in all, I enjoyed the area, especially the design.

The hotel has a lovely restaurant called Telegrafas which serves fine European gastronomy. The design of the dining room was similar to the rest of the property, very luxurious and spacious and had a great view of Vilnius Cathedral Square. For the dinner, I sampled several items including French oysters, beef carpaccio, wild king salmon, Canadian lobster, carrot cake, and lemon pie. Overall, the food was beautiful and full of tasty flavor! The staff in Restaurant Telegrafas also did a great job at making sure my needs were met. I was never left to fend for myself for very long! Well done Telegrafas.

The next morning I got to also enjoy breakfast in Telegrafas which is served until 14:00! Not only is there a massive buffet, with lots of luxurious items such as several types of caviar and sparkling wine, there is also an extensive à la carte menu with many options to choose from. Whether it’s local Lithuanian style or a poke bowl, they seemed to have it all. Just like at dinner the service at the restaurant was perfect.

Grand Hotel Kempinski Vilnius is simply a lovely property. Some high points are the great location, attentive service, and very high-quality offering. It was a great introduction to Vilnius and Lithuania overall! I’d be happy to come back as soon as possible and would love to stay at Grand Hotel Kempinski Vilnius again.

Park Inn by Radisson Residence Riga Barona Hotel Review

14 Nov 2019

My last stay in Riga, Latvia was at the Park Inn by Radisson Residence Riga Barona. This is a brand-new hotel located just over a kilometer north of the central train station. The area surrounding the hotel is bustling with tons of people and businesses including lots of restaurants which I was excited about exploring. The Park Inn by Radisson Residence Riga Barona has several different room types including longer stay options that are more like serviced departments than simple hotel rooms.

After spending some time in the relaxed atmosphere of the lobby, I headed up to the seventh floor to see my massive 60m² One Bedroom Superior Apartment with Terrace. The access of two terraces made this extra special! Inside the apartment was a kitchen and lots of seating which provided an atmosphere that felt like home.

The breakfast at Park Inn by Radisson Residence Riga Barona is served from 7am-10am, which is a little bit earlier than I would have preferred and served in the Tokyo City Restaurant. The buffet is made up of a modest selection both hot and cold items. Overall, I found enough for myself to eat but a bit more selection would have been ideal. I did especially like the interior of the restaurant which is very relaxed and comfortable.

The Park Inn by Radisson Residence Riga Barona is a great place to spend an extended stay in the heart of Latvia. The location in the modern center of the Riga offers easy access to public transportation and the thriving community that surrounds the property. I must point out that the hotel does not have facilities such as a gym, pool, or spa. When it’s all said and done, I enjoyed my stay at Park Inn by Radisson Residence Riga Barona and would happily return, especially for a long stay!
