I mentioned how fantastic the view is at the Sheraton in Lisbon, Portugal. The Panorama restaurant is their high-end, fine ding restaurant at the top of the hotel. I am told it is the best view in all of Lisbon! I totally can see why!
We started with some Brut that originated in Portugal. I was ready to experience Portuguese food in its fullest!
It was setup as a traditional 5 course meal. However, they had many little bites in between all of the courses. Therefore, the entire meal ended up being about 14 courses! Pace yourself! It’s a long road ahead!
The chef really pushed the limits of Portuguese food in a good way. Using beautiful presentation techniques and exquisite flavors I was thrilled. Many times when chefs try to get too creative it doesn’t work but in this case it turned out to be a masterpiece of culinary art.
I had many notable dishes and bites. The first that really stuck out in my mind was the fried chicken skin. I could eat this stuff all day. Oh my God! Another very memorable dish was the venison carpaccio with crispy raspberries. This was the first time I’ve ever had a crispy raspberry and it was magical. I will admit that the raspberries didn’t have the most attractive appearance but the flavor was exquisite. Seriously.
Mind you all of these delicious flavors were being accompanied by Portuguese wines and others from around the world as well as this magnificent view! How perfect!
It was also Easter Sunday and the dining room was quite busy. This is always a great indicator to show whether a restaurant is doing well or not.
At the end of the meal I was incredibly satisfied. There were times when I thought that the food would not stop coming. Luckily my Jedi training has prepared me for a meal like this. I focused on pacing myself and not over eating or over drinking and it worked out perfectly. I spoke with the head waiter for a long chat and he’s actually worked there for 16 years! The general sense I got from the restaurant was quality. If you are in Lisbon you have no excuse not to try Panorama the restaurant at the Sheraton hotel. Whether you’re visiting or living in Lisbon it’s absolutely fantastic! Go go go!
